I'm in the process of buying some adwords....for the first time. It's quite an experience. The Google interface is one of the most simple and complex systems that I've had to tackle.
Simple, because you can get a campaign up and running really quickly so that you're valuable advertising dollars are flying out the window.
Complex because there are a thousand different options available to you tucked away in the far corners of the Adwords system. I'm not really sure yet if I like the Google system as yet. I'm finding that Google Adwords is saying that it's delivering 600 people to christieb.com and yet Google Analytics is saying that only 200 have arrived. I just wonder why it's the case....and then I see the Google bill for 600 clicks and it all comes together in a rush.
This is what I've been wrestling with for the past few weeks and it's been a pain in the neck. For example, every time I go into Adwords it suggests that I should change my minimum bid price from 50 cents to $13. What the heck for? At $13 per click I'll pave the way in gold for people to come to christieb.com. When I check out my keywords, not one requires a minimum bid of $13....go figure?
I'm also trying to work it out that I'm getting thousands of impressions from the Google content channel and yet no clicks for some of my advertisements. They seem to get clicks in the search listings just fine. It's an interesting new world I've entered developing a website and I feel like I've got a lot to learn.
