I just saw a post that Frank Schilling made on his blog Sevenmile.com comparing my own experience in domaining to this one (iamned.com) and I thought that it would be worth commenting on. Just for the record I was extremely flattered by Frank referring to my article.

waterfall3Iamned is an article devoted to explaining in some depth why there are no more opportunities in the domain name business and why it is now pointless in getting onboard. I beg to differ. I'm a strong believer in the fact that we are all swimming in a very large ocean and in a large ocean there are reefs as well as tropical paradises.

I would agree with Iamned that many of the .com, net, org easy to find domains have been registered but strangely we're still finding domains. You just have to dig a little deeper and think outside of the box.

Now here is the most amazing fact from the article. Every other ccTLD in the entire world has been essentially valued at zero. I'm always amazed at the number of people that only look at com, net and even sometimes .org domains. The world is a much bigger place and there are tremendous opportunities out there.

e've been registering single word generic domains that receive traffic in a number of the ccTLDs. Yes, you read it correctly - single word generics with traffic. What I spend a lot of my time doing is looking not just at the present traffic but the future traffic for such domains - population size has a lot to do with it. Also, don't forget the penetration of credit cards for a ccTLD to assist in determining the levels of PPC revenue.

I know that I love my tropical paradise and the number of beautiful beaches that I've managed to stake out in the domain world but you know what?  There are whole continents just waiting to be discovered by people who think differently and are diligent about their business.
