The Domainers Network
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been getting increasingly frustrated with managing all of the different social networks for all my different websites and profiles. What I really wanted was a totally separate social network just for domaining and have it related to topics that are JUST for domainers.
After a bit of work, I’ve now setup the “Domainers Network” on whizzbangsblog.com. Think of it like the Facebook for the domaining community…..and ONLY for the domaining community.
You can do a lot in the domainers network, such as, being able to create and completely control your own public or private groups. I’ve already created a number of groups that you can join, they include; New gTLDs, Entrepreneurship, Selling Domains and Traffic Domains.
You can also add events to the domaining calendar (I’ve added NamesCon, WHD and the ICANN events) and with a click you can indicate you will be attending one or more of them. It just makes it so much easier to coordinate meetings if you know who is attending a conference!
Of course, you can always upload photos, videos and audio files that relate to domains. Everything is published to the “Activity Stream” so other members can see what’s happening. For example, every time I publish a new blog it appears in the activity stream.
There’s a LOT more functionality to the platform than just the above. What I’m really interested in is feedback and whether you feel it’s meeting a need in the community…..or maybe I’m the only one that’s experiencing social network entanglement :-)

Kudos for all you have done and do for the community, Michael. I have always valued what you share.
I don't think the solution to too many networks is to create another one.
I also found the platform you are using, cumbersome to use, most likely because it has to many exposed features. After having to sign up to comment on your blog, I all of a sudden (and without being asked) was receiving all sorts of emails about new users joining etc. It took me a while to figure out where to turn that off.

No need of this. The best social network for domainers is namepros
I agree that NamePros is awesome but what I'm trying to create is something quite different.....think of it as replacing Facebook for the domaining community.

It differs in a one major way. The Domainer Network is built so you can create your own private areas to share all information on domains or you can participate in your own groups. The activity stream is only for what what you want to see....not all activity in the system. There's a lot more in there as well....but it is definitely NOT a forum. NamePros does an excellent job of that. :-)
I think I get it. Namepros does have news feed that only shows activity from who you follow: https://www.namepros.com/account/news-feed
But they don;t let you start your own groups from what I can tell. Can you start invite only groups on yours?

Yes, you can create your own groups and invite whomever you would like. The nice thing is you could create a group for a potential buyer and use this area to transfer files etc for the deal....this provides an extra level of anonymity....just a thought.
You can actualy specify your own URL as well to refer people to your profile. There's a LOT in the system so keep on exploring and asking questions.
Very interesting. It's not a forum and hence it's very different to NamePros, agree with that. But how it's different to FB groups?
It has many of the features of Facebook groups with one exception.....the only people that are in the Domainer's Network are from the domain industry.
